How to use FuelClinic w/ Twitter

  • FuelClinic Simple Text Format

The simple text format allows you to quickly send FuelClinic your key receipt information from any of you Twitter devices, like your cell phone (via text message to 40404 in the US), pda, or the Twitter website.

This format uses today's date as the purchase date, and uses your account preferences to determine your units of measure like gallons vs. liters, miles vs. kilometers, price per gallon vs. total sale price. You can override your account preferences by using the Advanced Text Format (see below).

    "d addgas   87202.7   14.562   3.85"
    ^ ^ ^ ^
    direct tweet odometer quantity price

Important: If you use simple format, you must be sure to get the data in the correct order of: "ODOMETER - QUANTITY - PRICE"

If you have more than one vehicle in your account, FuelClinic will try to match your record to the correct vehicle automatically. If it can not determine a match, the receipt will wait in your account for you to assign it to the correct vehicle the next time you log-in. You can avoid this by including the vehicle nick-name in the message, as shown below:

    "d addgas   civic   87202.7   14.562   3.85   05.05.2008"
    ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
    direct tweet vehicle
    nick-name
    (optional)
    odometer quantity price date
    not today
    (optional)

  • Substituting for Periods

On some devices, it's easier to add a letter or symbol rather than find the period. We've added a few substitutes for the "period" or "dot" - use any of the following symbols, and they will be replaced with periods.
    ". , x * #"

      For Example:

    "d addgas   87202x7   14#562   3*85"
    ^ ^ ^ ^
    direct tweet odometer quantity price
  • Requesting Help

If you've forgotten the basic format order, you can request help by using this command.
    "d addgas help"

The reply will be similar to this:

    "Format: 1('nickname' opt.) 2('odometer') 3('quantity') 4('price') 5('date' opt.) - More help: www.fuelclinic.com"
